What we keep

Walkers give us a name and an email so we can save their place on the trail and send them the result. Households give us a name, an email and an address so the organiser can approve the house and walkers can find it. Organisers give us a name, an email and a password. Stars are stored against the walker and the house, with the phone's location at the moment the star was hung so the vote can be checked. We do not sell any of it and we do not use it for anything else.

Your walking group

When you join a trail you can tell us who is walking with you: first names only, and an age for children. A parent or carer fills this in, never the child. We use it to greet the children by name on the trail and in our emails to you. It is not shown to the organiser or anyone else, and it is deleted 31 days after the trail's envelope opens. You can change or clear it from the trail at any time.

SantaPost and SantaCall

SantaTrail is part of the SantaHQ family. The emails we send walkers carry a small note at the bottom about SantaPost (letters from Santa) and SantaCall (calls from Santa), using the children's first names if you added them. One tap on "Hide these links" in any email removes it for good. The links do not pass your details or the children's names to anyone.

Location

The walk page asks for your phone's location to tick off houses and to let you save a house as a favourite when you are standing there. It is used on your phone and sent to us only when you hang a star or reach a house. You can walk the trail without it, you just cannot hang stars.
